What is the best way to lose fat and gain muscle?

joed186 asked:

What are some good exercises to lose fat on your stomach and get abs? With the exercises, how long do you think it would take to get a flatter stomach?

You don’t get to choose where the fat comes off. Build muscle by lifting heavy and burning hard. Eat protein to rebuild. Muscle auto-burns calories…even while you sleep. So the more muscle you have, the easier it will be to lose fat.

Don’t over eat, but don’t eat so little that you lose muscle. You have to find the balance. Start at around 2100 calories per day. Try that for a month and see how it goes.

Crunches work the best, and to lose fat dieting helps: eat less fatty food. Also, I take these dietary vitamins called Ashwaghanda and Gotu Kola, they really help curve appetite.

Pretty much any exercise that works the stomach area will help.

it would take quite a while

search the internet for basic crunch positions

but you got to do it everyday and not after a shower because the hot water relaxes your muscles and make it harder

Well everyone has abs! But you probably have some fat on top… so its a LOT about what you eat! Eat healthy ! just cut that bad food out of your life haha.

And work out! Do cardio , that helps burn fat and then do sit ups, crunches, weights! It takes time and effort! Its a sacrifice and it needs real commitment!

you cannot lose weight in a particular spot in your body. You can eat healthy and exercise and lose weight all over then you can do ab exercises to tone the muscles. Depending on where youre starting from determines how long it will take. If you dont have much fat to lose then probably in a few months if you consistently exercise you will see good results.

Go on the Zone Diet. You think you’re not losing weight, but the fat is being replaced by muscle, especially when you’re exercising.

All depends on what your stomach looks like now. No easy way just do crunches, when you get good at them put a 5 pound weight on your stomach and try the crunches. Better get started right now!

The ab lounge works well & so does the gazelle. Both machines are fairly inexpensive & do work. Also, try to reduce your fat intake. I’m on the all veg diet right now…with an occasional chicken soft taco & RANCH DRESSING!! That’s MY weakness. Look at the label on your food & try to eat things with less than 5 grams of fat. It sucks at first but you get used to it after a while. I’ve come up with some really tasty low-fat (easy to make) meals. Hit me up if you’d like the meal ideas. Good luck.

Walk/Run daily. Do tons of cardiovascular like this to lose the weight. While you lose the weight, do sit-ups and crunches to gain abs. I would say in about a month you should notice a very agreeable change, unless your a fatty. After you keep the body fat to a minimum, just keep doing sit-ups and crunches and you will begin to see a pack shining through with time.

The biggest problem people face in this situation is being too lazy to stick with a plan and actually lose the weight and gain the muscle. Just stay with it, and with time everything will fall into place. Don’t quit in a week when you don’t have a 6 pack.

Eating right for what kind of muscle you want to gain is just as important as the exercise its self. Make sure your diet reflects the type of body you want as well. There are all kinds of good books on this that will help you find a body style you like and what diet and exercise plan will get you there. Personally I think nothing is better then asking someone that has done it or Reading their book. Jay Cutler has a great workout book and diet plan that I would highly recommend. Good Luck!

Basically it comes down to getting leaner and stronger. A lot of people have abs but you can’t see them because of the fat that is around it. So for your abs to show you gotta get rid of the fat and do lots of cardiovascular (running, cycling, stairs, etc.) Also do ab workouts, but not too many because the flab on your stomach will get hard and it will get more difficult to get rid of.
To beef up a little… do some weight training. Now I wouldn’t recommed doing too much weight training until you have reach how lean you want to be.
Remember to eat plenty of fruits and vegetable and drink a whole lot of water. The main thing is to not give up… be patient and work hard.
